TELSTRA PROPOSES LARGE MOBILE TOWER NEAR CHELMER RECREATION RESERVE FOOTBALL CLUBHOUSE PARKING LOT & ST DAVID’S CHURCH AND HALL

Thanks to Anne Wilson for providing information for this post. A development application Number A004141499 has been submitted by Telstra to Brisbane City Council in relation to 83A Oxley Road, Chelmer for a Material Change of Use – Telecommunication.  The accompanying plans show the application site is in Chelmer Street East in the proximity of the Football Club and somewhere near the carkpark – in front of St David’s Church and Hall.  It purports to be in a “former dump site located at 83A Oxley Road” but is in the middle section of Chelmer Recreation Reserve.

A letter written by Cr Johnston says that plans are available for viewing in her office.    Cr Johnston says: “Once logged into PDOnline you can access the Development Application by following the prompts to view the application enquiry or property enquiry by inserting either the application number or street address above".   She goes on to say the application is classified as impact accessible as it has some potential adverse impacts and is subject to public notification.

Cr Johnston also says the plans for this site are available for viewing on Brisbane City Council's website at https://pdoneline.brisbane.qld.gov.au/master plan/

A submission can be lodged in a number of ways, including:

- In person at one of Council's Regional Business Centres (nearest centres are at cnr of Fairfield Rd and King Arthur Tce, Yerongpilly and 70 Station Road, Indooroopilly) or at Cr Johnston's office.

- Electrically via PD Online which can be accessed at the above website.

Cr Johnston says she is happy to answer queries.

It appears that the same or a similar application was made some years ago and was unsuccessful at that time – but is now being repeated.
