Hi Everyone,
Council's efforts are now moving into a recovery phase with the initial emergency flood response now completed.
Well done to all our wonderful schools who have not only welcomed back students today, but over the past two weeks provided help and support for our local community. We hope Milperra High School at Chelmer will be back bigger and better than ever in a few months following repairs.

Flood Recovery BBQ Breakfast

Submitted by Nicole Johnston on Thu, 20/01/2011 - 6:16am

Hi everyone,
The last house in Tennyson Ward is now flood free but in need of a bit of TLC. If you have a gurney, mop, bucket or broom please come along to 24 Egmont St in Sherwood (cnr Hall Ave) to help with the clean up. The owner Leigh is a tireless volunteer in our area at the Sherwood Neighbourhood Centre and on the Sherwood Street Festival Committee. His home has been underwater for a week and as I write the rain is teeming down again here in Sherwood now.

A big thank you to all the thousands of wonderful volunteers who helped with the clean up over the weekend in Tennyson ward. A huge amount was accomplished thanks to your hard work, spirit and generosity.
That spirit continued today in the ward, with volunteers working to help on the clean up and providing food and respite. A big thank you to the Redcliffe contingent, led by Maree Dahlstedt, who feed 300 people and spent many hours cleaning houses today. Your help today was magnificent - thank you.
