Another DA for Controversial Graceville Site

A development application A003008422 has been submitted for this controversial site at 169 Long Street East, where a construction ban was earlier placed by Council following previous resident complaints.

 

It would appear this new application seeks to extend the original guarantees at this site to include an increase of 1.5 metres in the fascade, and includes semi-enclosed awnings to street described in relevant documents:

Indooroopilly Roundabout Upgrade

Council has announced the upgrade of the round about at Coonan Road and Moggill Road as can be seen in this article

 

Brisbane City Town and Traffic planners have previously advised the community during the Sherwood-Graceville Neighbourhood Planning meetings that the current restrictions on the Indooroopilly side of Walter Taylor Bridge cause the backup of traffic across the Walter Taylor Bridge and southwards towards Graceville.

Council vote approves 5 storeys in Sherwood-Graceville Neighbourhood Plan

On Tuesday, council voted along party lines to approve the 5 storey development in the Sherwood-Graceville Neighbourhood Plan.
 
Councillor Nicole Johnston's attempted move to amend the approval to replace 5 storey Medium Residential (MR - 5 storey) density with the existing Low-Medium Residential (LMR - 3 storey) was also defeated along party lines with the current council administration refusing to even debate the amendment.

Nicole Johnston Media Release - Five Storey Farce for Sherwood and Corinda

Despite hundreds of letters and submissions opposing five storey developments in Corinda and Sherwood, the Lord Mayor and LNP Councillors are set to approve the proposed plan at Tuesday's Council meeting.
 
Councillor for Tennyson, Nicole Johnston, said she was saddened that the Lord Mayor had failed to listen to the community.

Corinda Rail Maintenance Yards Development Application

Queensland Rail has submitted an Impact Assessible development application for a Material Change in use of the Railway Maintenance Sheds bounded between Dunlop Terrace, Lamb Street, Watt Streets and Lynne Grove Streets, Corinda. 

 

It is intended to change the temporary use of the area used during the construction of the additional rail line into a permanent facility to be operated 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Where does Sherwood Bus Depot Fit SEQ Transport 2031 Plans?

It is unclear how a Sherwood Bus Depot will increase local services to this area as promised by the Brisbane City Council.

Sherwood Bus Depot Development Application Amendments

Brisbane City Council have sold the Bus Depot to Commercial and Industrial Property Pty Ltd to develop the land into the Sherwood Bus Depot and then lease back to Council.
