Graceville Sherwood Neighbourhood Plan

After over eight years of work we are in the final stages of getting our Neighbourhood Plan.

When Campbell Newman was first campaigning for Lord Mayor of Brisbane he promised to put in place a process to review the old Local Area Plans.

Our previous Local Area Plan, called the Walter Taylor South Local Area Plan was the result of two years of community consultation. It eventually became part of the Brisbane City Plan although it was reduced to about three pages. In practice it proved to have a number of deficiencies including:

An application has been submitted to council for the demolition of a character home at 8 Erinvale Street, Corinda to be replaced by two new dwellings.  This is an impact assessible application and you can lodge your comments via Council.

Another Historic House subdivision

The period for public submissions on an Impact assessable proposed subdivision has opened a historic house on 58 Scott Street (228 Dewar Terrace) Corinda.

Warrina Village aged care Chelmer closes for subdivision

An impact assessable subdivision application has been submitted for this site by the Salvation Army which includes demolition of existing buildings. A003019156

 

Warrina Village is an aged care facility at Chelmer owned and man-aged by the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army propose to relocate the facility to Chapel Hill and dispose of the site.

Parklands at Sherwood Road DA

Pradella have submitted a code assessable development application A003023607 to alter their plans for this site and extend the time for development.

 

It will be interesting to see if the effect the floods had on this site will impact how this development is assessed and if Council takes the opportunity to protect it's future residents.

Planning Ignored Sunday Mail 27-Feb-2011

Town planning regulations will not be investigated under a review of Brisbane's worst natural disaster in 36 years.
 
Review chief Peter Arnison has revealed town planning regulations will not come under the microscope because there is not enough time.
 
Lord Mayor Campbell Newman appointed returned Major-General Arnison to head the $500,000 review last month amid questions about the failure of planning regulations to stop new apartment blocks from flooding.
